I want to make my own pellet mill. We're pretty handy blacksmiths and machinists. The question is how large would I make the press rollers and how much pressure do I need to apply to it to press through the dye? A third question, how many pounds should I run between my press rollers and dye?

Mesquite is commonly made into pellets and sold for BBQ and smokers. Some pellet mills may have difficulty with the harder hardwoods so check with the manufacturer to make sure the mill can handle hardwood.

I haven't heard of using tumble weed but I don't know why it wouldn't work. Pretty much any cellulose material like that can be made into a pellet.

I have heard of sewer sludge being made into pellets to use as fertilizer. I think they combine the sludge with other cellulose materials. Maybe mixing the sewer sludge and tumble weed would work.
